Windel is at the forefront of low carbon technologies including Solar, Energy Storage, Wave Energy and Green Hydrogen. By actively investing in the progression of commercial projects and technology development, we are paving the way to achieve the UK’s net zero target by 2050.

Founded in 2018, Windel Energy is a privately held company that specialises in the origination, development and asset management of renewable energy projects and low carbon disruptive technologies. Windel Energy has more than 4GW of clean, renewable power and Battery Energy Storage in various stages of development.

The Team at Windel Energy is comprised of investment professionals with leading industry expertise across sourcing, financial analysis, power markets and physical asset analysis and operations. The team takes a long-term ownership approach to the operations and management of renewable assets and benefits from extensive network of relationships, leading institutional infrastructure and in-house industry knowledge and experience.

Windel Energy partnered with Canadian Solar in December 2020 to co-develop 1.4 GW of solar projects in the UK, as well as an additional 1.5GW portfolio of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in October 2021. Windel are responsible for early-stage development of the solar and BESS projects, through to the ready-to-build (RTB) status, with Canadian Solar providing funding, support and procurement of power purchase agreements. With both companies sharing common goals and objectives, the successful partnership allows for co-delivering clean and affordable energy and building long term, sustainable relationships with landowner clients.
